Search Engine Optimisation

Sheldrake Hills SEO

What is SEO?

In simple terms - there is not much point in producing a website if people are not looking at it. It is like producing a leaflet but rather than handing them out you leave them in a box in the cupboard - money, time and effort wasted.

A digital presence is the same as that - you have gone to the effort of completing a website - now you need to drive traffic to it and get people to engage and become interested in what you are offering.

Search Engine Optimisation - or SEO - is the process of ensuring that people can find your website when searching for it. This process begins at the start of planning your website - we ensure the website is SEO friendly from step one - it is easy to get it right at the start rather than trying to backwards engineer it.

It is then a case of making sure that the website is SEO compatible - verified, secure, safe and has the right elements within it for the search engine to be able to list it.

It is not a dark art - there will be many people telling you it is and that they can get your website to rank at the top of any listing - and they can - for exorbitant fees! We work from the foundations up to make sure we start the process right - ensuring better performance when released to the world.

Sheldrake Hills SEO analytics

When ensuring your website is optimised for Search Engines (Google, Bing, etc) there are factors that need to be considered and implemented within your website:

Keywords: This used to be a simple process of listing relevant keywords that accurately describe your organisation and what it does. While these keywords still play a small part as a separate entity it is now vital that these keywords are included and embedded within your website as part of the text - and are featured in the correct places. We will discuss this with you at the planning stage as part of understanding your organisation and what it does.

Headings: These are not just there to break up the page - different headings undertake different roles within your website - and the search engines will look for these headings when your website is "indexed" by the search engine. Including your keywords in the headings is important and using different formats of headings also plays a key role, such as H1, H2, H3, etc.

Images: We know having engaging and vibrant images is important for any promotional material - it is critical on a website. Size, position and title all play a crucial role when optimising search engine compatibility.

Analytics: Monitoring performance is critical - performance is nothing without confirmation of results. Analytics are used to see which parts of the website are performing well, and more importantly, which areas need improvement.

Sheldrake Hills implements, manages and monitors all these elements - and moving forward can continue to do so or train others within your organisation to takeover the role.
